Rotary Club of Balasore has been doing free cataract camps for the last 35 years. The members of the Club decided to set up an Eye Hospital in the year 2014. Project Report was prepared and shared with various matching partners. With the help from various clubs of Great Britain, the global grant project was sanctioned by the Rotary Foundation in the year 2016. The Hospital building was ready by April 2016 and the Hospital was inaugurated on 18th April 2016. On an average over 1000 patients are examined in the Out Patients Department and more than 50 cataract surgeries are performed every month besides providing treatment for medical retina, glaucoma and surgeries for chalazion, pterygium, squint etc. The hospital has set up a spectacle shop and for conducting camps is equipped with an ambulance.
