Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University in Bhubaneswar hosted a two-day conclave on March 17th and 18th, which aims to bring together around 60 start-ups working on innovative technologies for climate-resilient agriculture. The event, titled ‘Ideation to Commercialisation – Opportunities for Start-ups’, is organized by Livelihood Alternatives in partnership with the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA)-iSEED Foundation, PACE Foundation and SOA.
Livelihood Alternatives’ Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Sambit Tripathy, said that the conclave seeks to create an enabling environment for start-ups to leverage their ideas, technological know-how and methods towards developing market-fit products. The event had two parallel tracks, one for start-ups to present their ideas and technology to the target audience, and another for them to exhibit their products.
The conclave enabled farmers, artisans and rural households to access new ideas, technology and innovations, with the participation of around 300 farmers from 65 blocks of Odisha. The start-ups have been drawn from different social incubators, including I-hub Gujarat, IRMA-SEED Foundation, KIIT-TBI, Social Alpha and Institute of Life Sciences.
Additionally, a Hackathon event was held during the conclave, where start-ups competed to create sustainable models in agriculture, dairy and allied industries, and agroforestry. The event will provide market-connect opportunities for start-ups, while farmers will have the chance to enhance their income by adopting new technology and business models.
Prof Priyabrata Patnaik, Additional Dean (Research) of SOA, and Dr Rakesh Arrawatia, Chair of iSEED, were also present at the news conference.
